Types of Bust Support Swimwear - Which One's Best For You?
The Various Ways Bust Support In Swimwear Is Achieved
- Mesh Shelf / Bra Lining - this usually means the suit has a lining, made of a mesh material, and elastic that sits under the bust to give support.
- Bra Shaping - the support in swimsuits with bra shaping means that the support is integrated in the seams of the swimsuit. Still giving support, but is not a separate lining piece.
- Foam Cups - support created through foam cups, sometime removable. Ideal for ladies that want support and padding.
- Underwire - like a bra can give support, but uncomfortable for swimming in. Only recommended for when lying on a sun lounger. (We don't currently sell any underwire swimsuits on UK Swim Store).
Some Points To Remember When Buying A Swimsuit With Bust Support
- How cut away under the arm a swimsuit is can affect the bust support. If a swim suit is quite cut away under the arm, you could feel like your breasts are popping out from the sides. Some styles do have more coverage under the arm that will avoid a larger bust popping out from the sides. The Winner clip back and Speedo Premiere Ultra are good examples of 'higher under the arms' swimsuits.
- Adjustable Straps can make a lot of difference to a good fit around the bust. Just like a bra you can pull the straps tighter to get a good fit and stop your breasts moving at all.
- Back Shape can make a difference too. More cut away at the back suits, like cross backs, mean there is less fabric at the back. Less fabric, more skimpy styles mean there is less to give you support all over (which is what you need with a larger bust) and more chance of popping out round the sides again.
